
5th -8th graders that read 4 MO Reader nominees celebrated with root beer floats at their voting celebration on Tuesday! Nice job!!


7th & 8th grade students are learning how to compare & contrast nonfiction and historical fiction texts. They used paint chips to record evidence from both passages before getting in partners to find similarities and differences using the evidence they found.





Several of the 7th and 8th grade students earned a trip to the Children's Literature Festival at UCM. They enjoyed hearing three author's speak about their lives as authors. Many purchased new books and were able to get those books signed by the author.






The 1st and 2nd grade students enjoyed some quiet reading time to start their Friday morning.


Stem students in grades 5-8, tested their Sphero snowplows. The goal was to move as many "snowballs " as possible. After testing, students will be given time to make adjustments before the final runs. Shawnee students were very creative with their projects!



Tomorrow will be our First Friday Fun (FFF) day for March. Students are invited to wear green or St. Patrick's Day attire to school.


Mrs. Hall attended the Teach It Forward Conference at UCM on Wednesday, February 28th. She was part of a panel to encourage middle and high school students to become teachers, especially in rural schools.


The 5th and 6th graders got to take advantage of the beautiful weather and the outdoor classroom while working on their engineering lab, "Build a Nest." This lab was part of the unit "Reproduction of Organisms." Nests are just one of the many ways animals provide protection for their offspring. They were given one class period to construct a nest that could meet the safe nest criteria.











7th and 8th graders are learning how to write strong thesis statements for Problem-Solution essays. To learn what strong thesis statements look like, they participated in an Investigation Trail activity.




4th grade has been learning about angles. Today they were tasked with finding the various angles within their name. Who would have known our names contain so many angles.








3rd and 4th grade started a social studies unit over government. They worked collaboratively with one another to create a poster which displayed information about various public services the government provides to us in the community.






Our kindergarteners are 100 days smarter!


Students celebrated 100 days by creating at STEM centers!



To celebrate the 100th day of school, 3rd and 4th grade read 100 AR books and took a test. They absolutely loved learning new things while reading non-fiction books. Here's to 100 days of learning and continued reading. 🎉

3rd grade used graham crackers to build a garden to reinforce their understanding of area and perimeter. They may have also eaten some of their materials in the building process.




3rd and 4th grade have made their predictions for the final score between the Chiefs and 49ers. Monday we will see who got the closest.


In STEM class, kindergarten students designed, built, and tested their snow shovels.


After learning all about sound and how it’s made the 1st and 2nd grade students created their own instruments using things they brought from home!
