Tomorrow marks the last day of school, and it’s truly a bittersweet moment for me. After teaching this group of students for the past five years, it’s hard to believe my 6th graders are ready to move on to their next chapter. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them—not only for how much they’ve grown academically, but for the kind, resilient, and unique individuals they have become. Watching them learn, laugh, overcome challenges, and support one another has been one of the greatest joys of my career. While I will miss them more than words can express, I know they are capable of amazing things, and I can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the future.

We enjoyed an all-school field trip to Clinton today. We visited the Life Flight Eagle, Henry County Museum, the Fire Department, and the inclusive playground.

The 7th & 8th grade class took a step back in time today by visiting historic Independence, MO. The day began at the 1827 Jail where Frank James was held while awaiting trial. Then we took a 45-minute wagon ride and saw where two Civil War battles were fought, the Oregon Trail began, and the old stomping grounds of Harry S Truman. Next, we visited a log cabin courthouse and one-room schoolhouse. We ended our trip at the beautiful Bingham-Waggoner Estate.

The kindergarten class has been learning all about space! To wrap up the unit they made their very own astronaut helmets!

Special thanks to Henry County Health Center for donating new gym equipment. The students have been having lots of fun trying new things!

5th and 6th grade recently wrapped up an economics unit. One of their projects was to participate in a class Trade Fair. Each student crafted homemade items to use in the fair. They used their items to barter with others. This was an absolute hit and they loved this experience.

The Shawnee Student Council hosted Easter parties for each class today as this year's service project. At each party, students enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, Minute-to-Win-It games, and snacks. Pictures from each class will be posted tonight.

What can you make from a paper towel roll? In STEM, kindergarten made oak trees! Nice job.

In STEM class, kindergartners used their skills to create inventions using only pipe cleaners & paper. Glasses to bookmarks were created!

Mark you calendar!
Shawnee R-III School Carnival
April 10th from 5-8 p.m.

5th and 6th had a fun filled Valentine's Day party. We enjoyed fun treats and played even sweeter games.

Our awesome 5th and 6th graders are celebrating the 100th day of school by reading 100 books — that’s a LOT of pages, a TON of words, and probably a few million brain cells growing!
Thanks to all their hard work, our students are now officially:
100 days smarter
2,400 hours smarter
14 weeks smarter

Plan to join us for an evening of Math fun!!
