
2nd grade has been learning about the importance of protecting our Earth. They have completed their Earth Day Lapbooks today.



4th grade is working on a week long Literacy Center over the short story, Lob’s Girl. They worked in small groups to find the meaning of British phrases from the story.


The fifth and sixth grade participating in a parachute activity in P.E.



7th & 8th graders enjoyed an Escape Room during American History today. They were tasked with deciphering the Vigenere Code used during the Civil War to deliver secret messages. Once they deciphered each code, they had to answer a review question correctly to get the next code.




The Shawnee Student Council invites all students to celebrate National Student Athlete Day tomorrow by wearing their own jerseys/uniforms to school tomorrow. Examples might include a t-shirt that represents a team you played for, a baseball/softball uniform, a dance costume, or a football jersey.

The seventh and eighth grade used there understanding of integers to complete a math scavenger hunt.

The fifth through eighth grade dissected owl pellets last week. They were surprised by what they found during the lab.





Creating leprechaun towers to keep the “gold” safe was the StEM challenge of the day for students in Grades k-4.




First grade enjoyed reading together today!



5th & 6th graders are working on “One-Pagers” for the book we just finished reading. This activity allows them to choose four activities to dig deeper into the book!





Due to weather forecast, Shawnee R-III will be closed tomorrow. It will be an AMI day. Please have students do their Friday work.

The fifth and sixth completed a fraction scavenger hunt during math this week. They solved expressions with fractions while adding or subtracting. If they had worked the problem correctly their answer would lead them to the next question until they returned to where they started.

The third and fourth graders heard the "Real Story of the Three Little Pigs " then they designed and built houses that would withstand the "Big, Bad wolf" aka Mrs. Dameron's hair dryer. They were pretty proud of their creations!


Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed celebrating yesterday in recognition of his birthday!


First grade was able to observe an experiment the 3rd and 4th graders completed.


3rd and 4th graders made volcanoes today and made predictions on how well they would erupt.





Due to current road conditions, Shawnee will be closed tomorrow, Fri. Feb. 25th. No AMI.

1st and 2nd graders are researching animals for their class book.
