7th & 8th grade students are learning about the U.S. Constitution in Social Studies. To learn the process for how a bill becomes a law, they have written a "bill" to propose a positive change for Shawnee. The bills are being reviewed by committees, then those that make it out of committee, will be presented to the whole class, "Congress," for approval. Finally, those bills will be sent to the "President," Dr. Akert, for final approval.
Students are pictured reviewing the bills in their committee groups.

Kindergarteners hatched eggs! They are so excited about the baby chicks!

The seventh and eighth grade worked on the scientific method using bubbles. The students had three different bubble formulas to use for their experiments. They were determining which solution made the largest bubbles. They also determined which was the strongest by determining how long it took for a bubble to pop.

The fifth and sixth grade have been learning about and discussing plate tectonics. They explored how an orange peel can be compared with Pangea as well as reviewed how the plates moved using graham crackers.

7th & 8th graders have been practicing effective research skills while learning more about important people from the American Revolution. This week they are assembling museum exhibits to showcase what they have learned. The exhibits will be on display during the PTO carnival on Friday evening. The students would love for you to stop in and critique their hard work!
